It could never happen to me!!!!! Well it has. I clicked on a site that offered up to 80% discount for self-employed people from stock clearnace and companies being wound up.
It asked to register for the emails (Very much like Groupon) – and I entered the information.
Three days later I get a letter from Vendis GmBH that i had sucessfully registered – which I found unusual – so I did a search on Venbdis GMBH – and then I found out. This is a scam site that has trapped hundreds of people – I was warned that next I would recieve a bill for 284.17 (I did a week later – including terms and conditions – the small print).
So – don’t click onto the site Grossehandel-angebot (Actually facebook even stopped me mentioning it in a posting).
There is more advice than it is possible to follow on the interenet – from do nothing to get a solicitor – but apparently they already have a solicitor working for them.
There will be (I am told) further reminders, then Solicitors letters – then eventually who knows what – even taking me to court – but in Berlin where I can’t go,.
Apparently many people pay that money to avoid the hassel.
I will send them a Verbraucherzentral recommended letter. Then we will see.
It requires nerves of steel apparently.
Something that we I may or may not have………………………..
I was riding my motorbike into Frankfurt yesterday evening on the A66 at around 8 pm. I was doing about 100 Kmph and behind a nice, big, expensive new model BMW, doing about the same.
He suddenly slowed down for no reason I could see – so I pulled into the middle lane (there are three lanes there) – and started to overtake him. Imagine my surprise as I glanced left – to see he was holding a dictation machine in his right hand and with his left he was holding an open folder on his lap. I can only assume that he was steering with his knees.
He was a well dressed, executive business or politician between 55 and 65 years old. He probably earns over €150,000 p.a. – and he obviously has a car office. I looked in the back but couldn’t see a portable secretary or coffe machine – but5 perhaps that was hidden somewhere else.
I have his registration number – it was an HG one. Am I allowed to show his whole number? He ignored my remonstrations that he should be driving and not talking memos – and sped off.
Ahh what arrogance money breeds. 🙁
Would you like to post your own versions here – people driving doing their makeup using the rear view mirror? Mobile phone – organising the children on the back seat (yes, I have seen that)? Post your thoughts here.
Well – aren’t they all? OK so it rained on Saturday – but today – now sunshine all day – cycling around Kronberg, Steinbach, Eschborn. Trying to find some cherries ( a late frost put-paid to most of this years crop I am afraid).
My neighbour’s son “sampled” nearly all my goosberries – and they weren’t even ripe yet 🙁 Lets hope I can keep his fingers off my blackberries and raspberries – when they come.
Made around 4 lbs of strawberry jam 2 weeks ago – I just love the “Good LIfe”.
Haven’t watched one football match – and don’t feel left out either.
Have a good week.

I have just returned from the U.K. whre I spend a few days visiting family in Norfolk.
OK – I admit we had some rain – but Sunday was a precious day of warmth, sunshine and seaside with Fish and Chips 🙂
Those who have not experienced the joy of seaside, sea air and freshly cooked fish and chips should hesitate to condemn – “they know not what they do” as someone quite famous once said.
From Cromer you can just make out a huge windfarm that is being (has been) constructed – some 34 km offshore. Some 158 turbines will provide enough electricity for every house in Norfolk!!!!

Giime that sea air.
So they have made the taxation of your radio and TV viewing simpler?
Well – simpler for me means that my payments go from 5 euros odd to 17 euros odd per month.
Pity the small to medium business – they are really going to get stung 🙁
The celebrations were in full swing throughout the U.K. today (and I daresay in other places as well).
If you like a bit of “Pomp and Circumstance” then you had to be glued to the BBC today (or ITV for that matter).
Of course – it had to rain a little bit – but then it pi**ed down here didn’t it?
Maybe no posting next week – I am off to visit my mother in Norfolk. (the original one stupid – not Virginia 🙂 )
I had the unfortunate expereince of catching a train from this platform on Monday. I had forgotton the stink of sewerage down there.
Now – as scientists have proven – given that smells are particulate – that means that I was breathing in (as was everyone else) someones else’s shit and piss – excuse the French 🙂
When will they fix this problem – I have expereinced it at other S-Bahn Stations – I think Taunus Anlage is one.
Post your reports here!!!!
Sunday was warm with good weather – so we went for a bike ride – `cross the fields through moor and mountain (OK – not so many of those 🙂 ) – Steinbach, Praunheim and the Nidda park – and along the river to Rödelhiem. Back to Eschborn and thank heavens for the S-Bahn to finish the uphill bit 🙂
There are some lovely parts of Frankfurt hidden along river and canal banks – get out there on foot or two wheels and appreciate it!!!
